Ali was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on January 17, 1942. His childhood name was Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. However, he made a great decision in his life and he changed his name.
He started his journey as a boxer when his beloved bicycle was stolen when he was 12 years old. He reported and said that he would take revenge on the culprit.
Then, the police who received the report, Martin, suggested Ali to start practicing so he knew how to fight. Since Martin was also boxer, he trained him and it became Ali’s starting point in boxing.

Champion of the World
After he collected 19 winnings, he started to fight for the bigger titles. Then, he went to Florida to challenge the heavyweight champion. It was on February 25, 1964.
At that time, Ali was 22 years old and he challenged Sonny Liston. He was the champion. Ali could defeat him and it was his first title as the heavyweight champion.

Muhammad Ali and Vietnam War
After that, there were many rumors saying that Ali joined Nation of Islam. He confirmed it and declared his conversion. Then, Elijah Muhammad, the leader of Nation of Islam, gave the name of Muhammad Ali.
After that, Ali no longer used the name of Clay. After some months, there was Vietnam War and United States obliged the men to join the force. However, Ali refused it since it was against his religious belief.
His decision to refuse made him arrested. Even, his boxing career was suspended. He also had to revoke his championship belt. However, he did not regret his decision.
The Return to the Ring
His return was started by defeating Jerry Quarry on October 26, 1970. He won the game in third round. Then, he challenged Joe Frazier to get his title back. However, he failed.
After the defeat, Ali got a chance to revamp his career. He challenged George Foreman and he wanted to fight in Zaire. He wanted to help the economy of the country. In this game, he won.
Because of the winning, Ali got a chance of rematch against Frazer. In the end, Ali got his champion title back. After that, there were a lot of fights to win. In the end, Muhammad Ali retired because of Parkinson’s disease.
