Have you ever heard about blood type diet? This diet allows people to eat based on their blood type. It sounds unbelievable, but it does exist.

First of all, understanding the blood type diet is necessary thing to do. It is always best thing to do before following the trend for no reason. As you might know, the diet has been known for about 2 decades. It has been quite long. So, what is it?

In addition, it is also known as blood group diet. Dr. Peter D’Adamo is the first one who makes it popular. He introduced the diet in 1996. It was very famous and his book which was related to that was massively sold. In fact, it is still very popular nowadays.

For your information, this diet comes from the belief that the blood reacts well with what foods to consume. Therefore, people with different blood type may need different foods as well.

Lectins: The Central Theories

Lectins are included in proteins. This is the basis of the diet existence. It is known from the theory that Lectins may target different blood types. In order to avoid agglutination of your blood cells, eating the right Lectins based on the blood types is important.

For your information, there are several foods that can make agglutination or clumping together of the red blood cells. However, it is mentioned that specific blood type is not always met in most Lectins.

What to Eat For Each Blood Type

As mentioned before, there are different foods to consume for each blood type. Here are several foods in blood type diet.

Type A

People with this blood type are called the cultivator or agrarian and supposed to eat various plants. It is similar to vegetarian diet. In addition, you better avoid the red meat.

Type B

They are called nomad. You who have this blood type are best to eat plants, some dairy, and most meats. Yet, it is best not to consume pork and chicken.

Type AB

People in this blood type is called enigma. Foods that are supposed to eat include dairy, tofu, grains, beans, and seafood. Meanwhile, the foods to avoid include chicken, beef, kidney beans, and corns.

Type O

The hunter is the name of people who have blood type O. they need to consume fish, meat, veggies, fruits and poultry.

Scientific Evidence of the Diet

To this day, some people still argue about the real evidence of this diet. There are studies that have been conducted, but the findings do not show significant answer for the diet’s real benefits.
